Patrick Verleye in Bruges

When true local Patrick Verleye started Tour In Bruges in April 2022, the goal was clear: to share private, personal walks through the city he calls home. Patrick believes that while having an official license is important, it takes more than just a piece of paper to really show you the heart of the city. Tour In Bruges doesn’t just drop in to run a tour and then leave. Patrick constantly connects with his neighbors, local shop owners, and the folks running the restaurants. He is part of the daily life of Bruges, and that’s the exact feeling he wants you to experience when you walk with him.

Whether he is grabbing a morning coffee with friends before a tour, having a family lunch, or getting a Friday night beer at a favorite local pub, Patrick is deeply rooted here. Over the years, he has gotten to know the history, culture, and daily rhythm of Bruges inside out, and he genuinely enjoys sharing that everyday local lifestyle with you.

Patrick loves good food and makes it a priority to ensure his guests know exactly where to find the best meals in the city. At least once a month, he and his good friend Robby make a point to test out both hidden gems and the newest restaurants opening in town.

If a location passes their strict evaluation for great food and atmosphere, it gets a featured spot on his culinary blog, . This guarantees that his guests always have access to a carefully curated, locally vetted list of top recommendations for their stay.

Patrick believes that a truly great private tour should be about connection, not exclusivity. Whether you are a solo traveler hiking your way to France, a group of friends in town for a concert, colleagues relaxing after a work conference, or a family spending a week in Europe—you deserve to explore the city with a guide who genuinely cares about your time here.

When he isn't walking the cobblestone streets of Bruges, you will probably find Patrick out on a mountain trail. He loves a good long-distance hike and has tackled routes like the Tour du Mont Blanc and the Alta Via 2 with his son. Back home, his other big passion is the local food scene. Patrick makes it his personal mission to visit as many restaurants in Bruges as he possibly can—which means he always has a fresh, tested dinner recommendation ready for you at the end of the tour.
